Meeting Minutes 2-2-21

Leroy Township Hall, 1685 N M-52, Webberville, MI

Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor, Earl L. Griffes.

 

 Board Members present:  Earl L. Griffes, Wilma J. Whitehead, Heidi Ream,

 Loretta K. Benjamin, R. Scott Diederich.

 Also present:  Colin Kummerfeldt, Mark Benjamin, Steve Moreno, Monica Moreno,

 Dennis Dyko, Lindsay Utz, James Utz, Wheatfield Twp. Rep., White Oak Township      

 Rep., Local TV Station and others.

 

 Public comment:  Steve Moreno provided a handout relating to wind turbines. The

 Apex representative stated that if the project is turned down they will go elsewhere.

 Monica Moreno reviewed their attorney’s letter, with facts pertaining to the use of  

 wind turbines.  Local resident and farmer, Mark Benjamin stated that in the beginning

 he was against the turbines, but after talking with residents up north, reading studies  

 and statements against them, it has all changed his mind. He also, feels that he     

 doesn’t want them on his farm, but believes that in the next decade they will be       

 needed for an additional energy source.  White Oak Township representative stated

 that their Township has a forty acre parcel zoned, for the turbines.

 

 The Township Attorney sent a letter to the Fulgers, stating that a substantial progress

 of correcting violations, of the Township Building Code, within the next thirty   

 days or the case will go to court.

 

 The Annual Township Organizational Meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday,

 March 24, 2021, at 10:00 a.m.  After review, Ream moved to adopt Resolution #2021-

 02, for the consideration of the Township Officers’ salaries.  Support, Benjamin. 

 Diederich-Yes, Ream-Yes, Griffes-Yes, Benjamin-Yes, Whitehead-Yes.  Motion passed.

 

 Diederich reported that Mr. Sigel & John Risch retired from the Fire Department. The  

 departments current light pack defibrillators need updating and replacement quotes

 are at a reasonable cost, at this time.

 

 After review, Benjamin moved to pay all bills as presented.  Support, Diederich. Ream-

 Yes, Griffes-Yes, Benjamin-Yes, Diederich-Yes, Whitehead-Yes.  The motion passed.

 

Motion by Benjamin to adjourn at 8:12 p.m.  Support, Diederich.  Motion passed.
