Leroy Township Board Meeting                                                        

Tuesday, May 13, 2025 – 7:00 p.m.

Township Hall – 1685 N. M-52, Webberville, MI.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Earl L. Griffes

Board members present: Earl L. Griffes, Gina Whitehead, Heidi Ream, R. Scott Diederich, Loretta K. Benjamin.

Also present:

May 13, 2025, meeting minutes approved. Motion by Benjamin and seconded by Diederich.

Roll Call: Griffes-Yes, Ream-Yes, Diederich-Yes, Benjamin-Yes, Whitehead-Yes.

Motion passed.

No public comment.

Rich Chaffee discussed having a professional fireworks display by Ace Pyro LLC at Bella Vista Winery in late June and August of 2025. John Nash from Ace Pyro LLC presented the Board with a company overview package, 2025 application, permit and certificate of liability insurance for fireworks displays. Leroy Township does not have a fireworks ordinance but needs to be aware of a show of this caliber per the State Ordinance. Nash described the arrangement with a lot of information about the display and talked about the safety of the people attending the festivity. Chaffee has met all the requirements for the State Ordinances and the fireworks show will continue.

NIESA meeting minutes from April 10th presented by Griffes and discussion was the audit report, chase vehicle, ambulance lease. NIESA meeting minutes from May 8^th were presented by Diederich. The chase vehicle was approved, adopted the May 2025 (Quarterly) Budget Amendments, the Village of Webberville DDA Agreement is being returned to “old business” for further consideration.

Frontier phone bill was discussed and Griffes is working with our attorneys to get out of the automatic contract that was made in 2012 resolved. The Township was not getting the proper service that it needed to run the Township efficiently.

Payment of bills with discussion. Motion by Benjamin and seconded by Whitehead. Supported by Griffes, Diederich, Benjamin and Whitehead.
