Leroy Township Board Meeting                                                        

Tuesday, April 8, 2025 – 7:00 p.m.

Township Hall – 1685 N. M-52, Webberville, MI.

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Supervisor Earl L. Griffes

Board members present: Earl L. Griffes, Gina Whitehead, Heidi Ream, R. Scott Diederich,

Loretta K. Benjamin

Absent:

Also present: Dennis Dyko, Steve & Monica Moreno.

March 4, 2025, meeting minutes approved. Motion by Ream and seconded by Diederich. Motion passed.

March 25, 2025, Organizational meeting minutes approved. Motion by Diederich and seconded by Benjamin. Motion passed.

Public comments made about the Township website not being up to date with meeting minutes and the Clerks name has not been updated. Whitehead mentioned that the updates will be done as soon as possible.

HSC Services contract discussion was the extension of the agreement commencing on August 1, 2025. Scott Cunningham, the present assessor, will be stepping down and John Cunningham will be taking his position for the Township. John is a level 4 certified assessor and has been working right alongside Scott and getting even more experience with administration.

New election tabulators to be purchased from Election Source presented by Whitehead. The Township has been budgeting for the newer models of the tabulators for 3 years per the State of Michigan’s decision to have municipalities with the updated equipment for elections. The efficiency and accuracy that comes from the newer models also presented. Benjamin questioned where the tabulators were manufactured. The media for the new tabulators goes directly to Election Source in Grand Rapids, Michigan and will be programmed at the Township for acceptance testing. The old tabulators get turned into Election Source for their disposal. Whitehead motioned to purchase the new tabulators and Seconded by Ream. Roll Call: Griffes-Yes, Ream-Yes, Diederich-Yes, Benjamin- No, Whitehead-Yes. Motion passed.

NIESA meeting minutes presented by Diederich and discussed about the department getting financial leasing for equipment repair to emergency vehicles. NIESA is also interested in purchasing a Chevy Tahoe as an EMS Chase Vehicle to be able to get better response time. King Props Innovations LLC was approved for training houses. Public comments made about having control burns for the department as good training, the Township Board agreed.

PureGreen lawn care contract was discussed by Griffes and the Township Board agreed to needing all season services. The Township will be paying per application.

Cleaning services will remain to be done by Nemer’s Cleaning Services for the Township and the Webberville District Library with a raise in pay of $150 after discussion. Township Board approved.

Payment of bills with no discussion. Motion by Benjamin and seconded by Ream. Supported by Griffes, Ream, Diederich, Benjamin and Whitehead.

Motion to adjourned by Ream and seconded by Benjamin.  Motion passed.
